Producer boasts of COD graphic quality

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Infinity Ward’s Executive Producer Mark Rubin is boasting about the graphical quality of the upcoming Call of Duty: Ghosts, especially due to “a semi-dramatic change” to the internal art production pipeline.

The company appears to be going beyond standard art setup as Rubin explained as part of an interview on GamesIndustry International.

“What we’ve done with this generation change, especially for the art pipeline, that being the biggest difference, is we’re making our big art assets at cinema quality, not even PC quality, but above next-gen," he said.

"It’s at this really amazing looking cinema quality asset. What we’re doing, we use that and we create assets for each platform that are the best for the platform.

"So now every platform, instead of having a sort of average art asset, they’re getting the best asset for that platform.”

This is welcome news as many PC fans may remember when Skyrim launched that it was a port straight from the PS3 and Xbox 360 version.

It contained the same terrible low resolution textures, forcing the community to create mods in order to provide better textures until Bethesda caught on and released a HD texture package.

It would seem Infinity Ward may have learnt from previous examples and are going to exploit this technology.
