A survey of businesses and government organisations
has found nearly one in three are still steering clear of cloud computing.

The survey of 48 IT professionals, conducted by Unisys
at industry events in Auckland and Wellington, found 30% of respondents didn’t
host any business applications in a cloud environment.

Of those that did, the most-favoured cloud services were
web hosting services (32%), customer relationship management (CRM) systems
(21%), and email (19%).

40% of respondents said they were considering moving their
email services to a cloud environment in the next two years, 27% their web
hosting, and 16% their CRM.

Asked to list what they perceived as the greatest
risks to their IT services, 44% said natural disasters, 40% said human error,
and 27% said power outages.

Only 13% of respondents perceived cyber attacks to be
a great risk.
