Local software success story Aptimize has confirmed it has been bought by US firm Riverbed.

Founded in 2008 and employing just 10 staff, Aptimize produces website acceleration software that allows companies to compress and consolidate files so their pages are quicker to view.

The purchase is thought to be worth tens of millions of dollars.

Ed Robinson, CEO of Aptimize, says in his blog that he will continue to lead Aptimize as part of the Riverbed team.

“I would like to give a particularly heartfelt thank you to our customers and partners,” Robinson says.

“We’re the company we are today because of your support.”
