ICONZ launches CDN network
Tue, 21st Jun 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

A new Content Delivery Network (CDN) service being offered by ICONZ is allowing New Zealand businesses the ability to deliver information to overseas clients faster.

ICONZ chief executive, Sean McDonald, says the CDN network eliminates the hop, skip, jump approach to data sharing between New Zealand and the rest of the world.

"Client web content will be cached offshore from the moment the first user hits their site here in New Zealand,” McDonald says.

"It brings the website closer to the end user.

The new CDN has nodes in 13 countries, enabling content to be accessed from the server closest to the customer.

McDonald says this allows ICONZ to overcome bandwidth, CPU and processing bottlenecks.

"The fewer the hops, the faster the delivery.”.
