Members of industry group NZICT have approved changes to the organisation’s constitution that will make it more reflective of the New Zealand technology ecosystem.

The new constitution broadens the objectives of the organisation, supports wider representation through changes to board rules, and adds new membership categories for organisations such as start-ups and Universities.

NZICT has also removed preferential voting rights for tier 1 members.

Bennett Medary, NZICT chair, says the change reflects the progression and maturity of the organisation, which was founded just over three years ago.

“The changes to our strategic focus are essentially a reflection of the dynamic and fast-changing industry that we represent,” Medary says.

“They will positively impact on our aspirations for a digital New Zealand.”
