Just as iPad 2 prepares to go on sale around the world on March 25th, the first wi-fi tablet running the Honeycomb OS is about to enter the great tablet race.

Launching first in the US on March 27th the 10.1-inch tablet will be stocked by major retailers such as Amazon.com, Best Buy, Costco, RadioShack, Sam’s Club, Staples and Walmart.

The 32GB model ships with an RRP of US$599.

“Motorola Xoom is a truly innovative tablet – its design, coupled with being the first tablet to have Android 3.0, results in a user experience that is one-of-a-kind,” said Dan Papalia, VP of retail sales for Motorola Mobility.

The device will also be available in the US through the channel via a distribution agreement with Synnex and regional carriers through Brightpoint.

We’ve contacted Synnex and Motorola regarding New Zealand details.
