With the corpse of Google Reader barely rotted, Google has moved on, launching Google Keep to rival Evernote and OneNote.

Allowing users to essentially keep checklists, memos, voice notes or even annotated photos, the app faces a tougher introduction to the world, with many users still peeved off from the culling of Google Reader.

Google seem's fine about the issue however, despite the apparent outrage, launching the app on Google Play.

"Every day we all see, hear or think of things we need to remember," says Katherine Kuan, software engineer, Google. "Usually we grab a pad of sticky-notes, scribble a reminder and put it on the desk, the fridge or the relevant page of a magazine.

"[But] to solve this problem we’ve created Google Keep."

Going in direct competition with Evernote, which currently has over 15 million active users, and Microsoft's OneNote, can Google Keep offer something bigger and better?

Some industry figures think not, with Gizmodo conducting a thorough review of the app - only to find it can't replace Evernote in their eyes.

The main issue users have however is the worrying back of the mind feeling that Google will pull the plug on Keep like it did Reader.
