Inland Revenue goes mobile

This article could be out of date, as it was published 1 year 15 days ago.In a sign mobile applications have definitely become mainstream, the Inland Revenue Department (IRD) has launched its own web app, allowing users to check their tax details on the move.
Revenue Minister Peter Dunne says people can use the app to view their current year tax deductions from their salary or wages, entitlements for Working for Families tax credits, and student loan balances.
Users can also use the app to update their contact and bank account details.
“Inland Revenue is doing a lot of work to develop its online services,” Dunne says, “because that’s how many customers want to manage their tax, just as they are used to doing with banking today.
“The app is a quick and easy way to deal with some of those common interactions Inland Revenue has with customers.”
For more complex matters like filing returns users will still have to go through the traditional means, although IRD will look to implement more features in the future.
