Mobile 'grabbing' on the rise
Fri, 20th Jan 2012
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Sales of daily deals via mobile phone have risen to over 10%, GrabOne says, just 14 months after the launch of the company’s full mobile app.

GrabOne marketing director, Campbell Brown, says 12% of all GrabOne purchases were made via the mobile app during the Christmas period. While some of this can be attributed to people being away from their work desks, once people start making purchases with their mobiles they are unlikely to stop.

"It’s still an emerging opportunity here in New Zealand,” Brown says, "but the tipping point has arrived.”

GrabOne has set a target of making 25% of its sales via mobile by September this year.

A big part of this will come from next month’s launch of GrabOne Instant, a special mobile page offering real-time, location-based deals.
