Video: Amazon wins cloud-based music raceMarch 30 - 11am
Amazon has beaten the likes of Apple and Google by launching its own cloud-based music storage and streaming service.
Three cloud-based music products have launched in the US – Cloud Drive, Cloud Player for Web and Cloud Player for Android.
The services allow customers to securely store music in the cloud and play it on any Android phone, Android tablet, Mac or PC, wherever they are.
It isn’t so straight forward to get the service working on iOS devices such as iPhones, iPads, iPod touches though (see TechCrunch for an explanation).
Bill Carr, vice president of Movies and Music at Amazon, said, “Our customers have told us they don’t want to download music to their work computers or phones because they find it hard to move music around to different devices. Now, whether at work, home, or on the go, customers can buy music from Amazon MP3, store it in the cloud and play it anywhere.â€
