Motorola files Apple lawsuit

This article could be out of date, as it was published 8 months 29 days ago.Motorola Mobility has filed a lawsuit against Apple, seeking a U.S. import ban on the company’s iPhones and iPads.
As the world’s largest technology company wrapped up its closing statements in federal court battle with Samsung, the Google unit made accusations of patent-infringement.
Motorola is claiming Apple was unwilling to work out a licence for patents regarding location reminders and e-mail notifications.
“We would like to settle these patent matters, but Apple’s unwillingness to work out a license leaves us little choice but to defend ourselves and our engineers’ innovations,” Motorola Mobility says.
The lawsuit follows over two years of battles between the companies, with Apple accusing Motorola of making ‘unreasonable demands’ and ‘copying key patented features of the iPhone.’
The telecommunications equipment maker is already awaiting verdict in a previous case with Apple with an announcement scheduled for August 24.
