Barracuda launches 'flexible' Virtual License Portability
Wed, 16th Jul 2014
FYI, this story is more than a year old

Barracuda Networks has unveiled virtual license portability for several Barracuda virtual products in its security product portfolio.

This capability allows customers to purchase a virtual license – across premises-based virtual environments including VMware, Citrix and Microsoft, and public cloud deployments in Amazon Web Services and Microsoft Azure – and transfer that license to other private or public virtual platforms at no additional cost.

According to a May 2014 survey by Tech Pro Research, Hybrid Cloud: Benefits, roadblocks, favoured vendors, 70 percent of respondents said they had implemented or were evaluating a hybrid cloud solution.

“Barracuda is all about giving our customers choices and helping them simplify their IT infrastructure,” says Steve Pao, GM Security, Barracuda.

“Our new virtual license portability gives customers deployment flexibility and provides a company with the ability to transfer its virtual license from a public cloud to their private cloud environment, or between public cloud services, offering investment protection.”

According to Pao, Barracuda’s cloud-connected subscription solutions offer customers "flexible deployment options for on-premises, cloud, and hybrid environments."

The new virtual license portability enables hybrid cloud deployments across private and public cloud environments, which Pao claims provides the "security, reliability, control and flexibility that an organisation needs."

Barracuda virtual license portability is available beginning August 3, 2014, on Barracuda Spam Firewall Vx and Barracuda Web Application Firewall Vx.
