Resellers targeting the SMB space are expected to benefit from a deal between scalable storage and data security solution vendor Imation and distributors Connector Systems.

Covering the New Zealand market, the deal will see Connector Systems providing resellers with the company’s new InfiniVault and DataGuard appliances, as well as its RDX removable hard disk storage and Linear Tape-Open products.

Mark Dasent, general manager of networking and wireless for Connector Systems, says he expects a strong up-take from SMB-focused channel partners.

“Compliance and the explosion of unstructured data have changed the way SMBs must retain, retrieve and recover their data,” Dasent says.

“For a very long time, SMBs have bolted together solutions from different storage companies which didn’t always work well together.

Imation made five acquisitions in 2011, including purchasing the secure data storage hardware business of IronKey in September.

“Imation are currently investing very heavily around acquisitions and new technologies so it is a very exciting time to be partnering,” Dasent says.
