Auckland data storage and protection specialists Datastor have been appointed as an aggregator for the VMware Service Provider Program (VSPP), cementing the relationship that started when Datastor first introduced the brand to New Zealand in 2004.

Datastor will be responsible for facilitating annual contracts with VMware service providers, and providing monthly reports back to VMware. The Auckland-based company was the ideal candidate to take up the job, having sold licenses for hosted environments since before the program was introduced.

Mark Baker, national vendor manager for Datastor, says the appointment as VSPP aggregator complements the company’s recently-announced cloud strategy.

“VMware has evolved significantly in the last seven years,” Baker says.

“We have seen not only an expanding range of products but also maturity of their partner programs.

“VMware is Datastor’s exclusive virtualisation platform and this agreement signifies a further strengthening of our longstanding partnership.”
