DC teams up with Aruba to target wireless networking market

Distribution Central and Aruba Networks have teamed up to deliver a comprehensive channel program targeting the wireless networking market across New Zealand.

The leading ANZ distributor says the program comprises a range of channel initiatives designed to enable ANZ resellers to sell and support next generation wireless solutions.

The push will be spearheaded with Aruba’s new cloud Wi-Fi solution, which combines the new Aruba Central cloud-based management service with Aruba Instant access points (APs) including: the new Instant 155 wireless and wired AP; the new Instant 220 series 802.11ac wireless AP; and a new version of Aruba Instant OS, to meet the requirements of diverse, distributed organisations and mid-sized networks.

Senior executives Nick Verykios and Steve Coad from DC & Aruba, recently held an advisory council lunch at Tribeca Restaurant with core enterprises partners; in order to disseminate their plans for NZ and hear feedback about how to launch and tweak them.

The outcome – a series of focused campaigns that will drive business in the Microsoft/Lync, Video, BYO – user ID/authentication and security (with Palo Alto Networks) and other non-generic Wi-Fi opportunities…

Firstly, the collaboration with Aruba and Palo Alto Networks is an essential solution for all wireless network partners due to the explosion of BYOD.

As user IPs change as each device roams the network, the Aruba solution passes on the changes to the Palo Alto Networks Next Generation Firewall so that they are able to match the user to the IP.

It is now not only used for guest identification but also for enterprise users that bring their own devices using the Aruba wireless infrastructure to connect their devices and access the internet.

“Wireless and security are their next generation with BYOD opening up entry points for sophisticated security attacks,” says Nick Verykios, Managing Director, Distribution Central.

“Aruba and Palo Alto Networks provide best-of-breed solutions in their respective technologies, but together present a combined wireless security solution that partners can deliver to their customers.”

Another cross-sell partnership that DC will leverage through its technology-leading vendor portfolio is that of Aruba and Avaya Radvision.

Video solutions impose unique requirements on existing data centric WLAN networks – Aruba’s application-aware 802.11n wireless LANs (WLAN) solve these problems, allowing the end user to enjoy jitter-free, multi-channel video without requiring wired infrastructure at the network edge.

Finally, DC provides its partners an advantage when implementing Microsoft Lync. Aruba’s visibility technology (AppRF) automatically identifies and classifies Microsoft Lync traffic, even if it’s encrypted.

This allows the Lync server to integrate with Aruba to provide real time reporting on Voice and Video call metrics, vital to monitoring the performance of the wireless infrastructure to support real time media.
