Former Microsoft man linked with mystery Unified Comms business

Following news that Deane Jessep has left Polycom to co-found a new specialist consulting integrator focused on the Unified Communication market, former Microsoft man Brent Colbert has been heavily linked to a role within the mystery business.

Previously Microsoft’s Marketing and Channel Director, Colbert has been strongly linked to the new business after being spotted having regular meetings with Jessep during the past weeks.

Having been involved in similar ventures recently, when asked by Techday.com for comment on the rumours, Colbert said: “Unified communications is an exciting sphere of technology, it’s outcomes are all centred in real business benefits.

“I have been looking for a while to get involved in a business that works primarily in this space, with my Microsoft background and contacts it would make sense to focus on an aggressively growing part of their portfolio.

“I’m not outright confirming my involvement, or the nature of this venture, but if I was, you can bet that it would contain a lot of those elements.”

Colbert has almost nine years experience working for the New Zealand branch of Microsoft as the Marketing and Operations Director, before being appointed as Partner Group Director.

Over the past year Colbert has been running his own company iD8, helping tech companies such as Data247 with their marketing, channel and product development.

If the rumours are correct however, in addition to adding another strong individual brand, Colbert will bring vendor relationships, channel development, marketing and operational skills to this mystery business.

While the business may be secret at presence, with strong industry figures such as Jessep and Colbert joining the ranks, it’s safe to say it won’t be long before we hear more.
