How safe is your site?

Symantec subsidiary GeoTrust has launched a cloud-based scanning service for website owners keen to keep their clients safe from malware.

Using avenues such as injection, cross-site scripting and broken authentication, hackers are able to embed malware in websites without the owner’s knowledge, as happened to the MetService website during a spell of terrible weather in August.

The GeoTrust scan checks for both well-known and brand new malware strains, and will check up to 50 web pages for each customer per day.

The scan is being offered exclusively through Symantec’s channel partners.

Fran Rosch, VP trust services for Symantec, says the threat of hidden malware is dreaded by website owners and users alike.

“Symantec is maximising the resources of the channel while positioning its partners to provide an innovative yet simple and affordable security option for web site owners,” Rosch says.
