HP slaps up Microsoft with Windows 7 ad

Windows 7 is back by popular demand, if you ask the guys at HP HQ that is...

For the tech giant littered inboxes over the weekend with adverts persuading customers to buy a Windows 7 PC instead of a Windows 8 device.

Labelled “Windows 7 is back”, the offer claims the operating system is “back by popular demand”, in what many industry cynics are calling a clear dig at Microsoft's revamped Windows 8 platform.

While HP actively promotes Windows 8 machines upon entering the advertisement, the priority sits with Windows 7 machines as opposed to newly released devices, suggesting the company is determined to keep promoting Microsoft's older OS.

The news comes less than a week after revelations that Redmond is attempting to distance itself from growing Windows 8 criticism by releasing Windows 9 in April 2015.

Codenamed “Threshold”, trusted Windows blogger Paul Thurrott claims the new OS will target “this new world of technology” in what he describes as a “make or break release.
