FYI, this story is more than a year old

Ingram Micro has made two new senior appointments in HP and IBM roles the company has announced today.

Jason Langley, General Manager Value, says the two new appointees - Darren Probst, HP Solutions Architect, and Mike Lasham, IBM Market Development Manager - bring with them a wealth of experience.

“Both Darren and Mike are tremendously experienced, and we’re thrilled to have them join our team," Langley adds.

"They both have years of expertise in the technologies that our resellers and their end-customers are deploying, and add a huge amount of capability in supporting the needs of our resellers both from a technology and business development point-of-view.

Probst has had more than 10 years’ experience in senior technical roles at organisations such as the European Central Bank in Frankfurt, Northland District Health Board, Dimension Data and, most recently, Plan B.

He has been responsible for major projects in disaster recovery, managed services, infrastructure and enterprise application rollouts and is highly experienced in solution scoping and design, service delivery and project management.

Probst’s role at Ingram Micro is to work with resellers on the design and specification of solutions based around HP enterprise server, storage and networking products, and to provide support, training and advice to Ingram Micro’s internal technical pre-sales specialists.

“This role is as exciting as it is challenging,” he says. “It’s broad, so provides a really good opportunity for me to bring all my skills and experience to bear on helping resellers and their end-customers create solutions that truly deliver to their needs.

"It’s also great to be able to tap into the vast experience that other members of the team offer in their respective areas as we leverage Ingram Micro’s incredibly broad portfolio to create complete solutions for our partners.”

Lasham comes to Ingram Micro with more than 25 years’ experience in the technology industry having worked at Eagle Technology, IBM, Sun Microsystems, Express Data and Dell.

He brings a strong combination of technology and business development skill to the team, with extensive experience in both client-facing and technical specialist roles. Lasham says he’s looking forward to the opportunity to combine both aspects of his experience in the new role.

“I really enjoy both the technical detail and client-facing, problem-solving parts of the job,” Lasham adds.

“That’s where I feel I can really add value to our partners, not only by helping them to identify and close opportunities from a business development perspective, but also by playing a pivotal role in recommending the exciting and ever-evolving range of technologies and products available from IBM.

"Because of my background I have real-world knowledge of how such solutions are deployed and used, and I can work closely with our solutions architects to help our partners deliver solutions that are well designed and specified and, importantly, do the job for which they are purchased.”

Langley says both Probst and Lasham bring a great blend of technology and business development expertise to the team, and both will play a strong role in supporting and providing training to Ingram Micro’s internal team.
