Polycom has unveiled a video-conferencing expansion tool designed to accompany Lync, the video communication software offered as part of Microsoft’s Office suite.

The CX7000 has been developed as part of a partnership between Polycom and Microsoft, which they say allows for a more seamless experience.

Polycom, which was recently named Microsoft’s Unified Communication Innovation Partner of the Year, says in a press release that the system “takes the Lync experience customers are familiar with on their desktops and recreates it in the conference room.”

“The CX7000 offers all the Lync features customers want with Polycom’s room video collaboration solutions in a single plug-and-play system.”

The system won’t be available in North America and Europe until the fourth quarter, meaning it could be next year before we see it on sale in New Zealand.
