Motion launches enterprise tablet in NZ
Tue, 15th Mar 2011
FYI, this story is more than a year old

At Microsoft’s Auckland HQ this morning, Motion - along with distributer Simms International - launched a new ruggedised tablet that runs on Windows 7.

Rather than being pitched as an alternative to iPad, Motion says that its CL900 is designed for the rugged enterprise market. Healthcare and construction industries were cited as being two prime examples.

A selection of accessories and peripherals is also being offered by Motion.

"The CL900 Tablet PC is designed for the challenging conditions highly mobile workers face every day and is far more durable than any other comparably priced tablet,” says Motion.

"Built around an internalfor structural rigidity, it's designed to withstand a drop from the back of a truck, a workbench or a hospital bed, and is sealed to protect against exposure to moisture, dust or harsh temperature”

Speaking at today’s launch event, Motion’s ANZ Regional Manager, Brett Gross, said, "We’re channel focused only, so we only sell through the channel. We don’t sell directly, neither do our distributors. We’ve added a lot of value into the New Zealand market by keeping jobs there by making sure that we employ and work with local people to build the local markets."

Gross said that Motion has seen 23% year-on-year growth in the markets it operates in and hopes to have the tablet available via Simms International in late-April to early-May.
