Nexsan by Imation targets Kiwi resellers with 'disruptive' solutions

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Changing storage needs are propelling storage provider Nexsan by Imation into new markets.

Nexsan specialises in disk-based storage systems and offers solid-state optimised unified hybrid storage systems, secure automated archive solutions and high-density enterprise storage arrays. The company  recently signed Connector Systems as its Kiwi distributor.

Mike Stolz, Imation vice president Global Marketing and Support, says new applications driven from mobile devices and Internet of Things, and the requirements that come with them, are offering the chance for Nexsan partners ‘to really get in front’ with Nexsan’s ‘adaptable, scalable’ offerings.

Mark Dasent, Connector Systems ANZ general manager, dubs Nexsan’s offerings as ‘unique, disruptive technology’, which resellers can use to differentiate themselves to their customer base. “Nexsan is relatively new in the Kiwi market. It is an opportunity for New Zealand resellers to have this well-known brand behind them.”

Stolz says the company has a high loyalty rate with channel partners, partly due to the fact partners can leverage the Nexsan storage solution as part of the overall services they have to offer.

The company was acquired by storage and data security giant Imation in January 2013 for $ $120 million, a move seen as part of Imation’s efforts to target markets with strong growth rates. Stolz says the acquisition means Nexsan can ‘take advantage of the scale Imation has to offer’.

“Partners can leverage our full portfolio to sell this onto their customers to be able to address the majority of storage needs,” he says.

“It’s exciting times for resellers to really get involved with Nexsan by Imation as we come into the country. It comes down to strategic resellers who want to be involved in our brand and solutions,” says Sean Byrne, regional sales manager ANZ, Imation.

Stolz says back up, archive, video surveillance and healthcare are growing markets for the company, with products used in high end applications. The company is also doing ‘quite a bit of work’ with financial institutions, a number of which are using cloud-based solutions, ‘to make sure their files aren’t tampered with’.

“Customers range from large corporates all the way down to smaller entities that are providing a service, such as cloud based centres,” he adds.

“We’re just one part of a storage solution, and our partners come together to complete that solution. Resellers can leverage all this content and brand it as their own.”
