NZ growth helps Canon smash 100-millionth lens-manufacturing milestoneMay 2 - 9am
Canon has revealed a lens-manufacturing milestone with the production of the company’s 100-millionth EF-series interchangeable lens for EOS cameras—an EF200–400mm f/4L IS USM Extender 1.4x, on April 22.
Achieving the last 10-million lenses in around just 11 months, the 100-million milestone is a world-first achievement.
“This achievement reflects what we’re seeing in New Zealand where Canon EOS accounts for two thirds of all dollars spent on interchangeable lens cameras in the last 12 months,” says Kim Conner, General Manager – Consumer Imaging at Canon New Zealand.
“People continue to recognise the unrivalled power of Canon SLR technology as it helps users deliver their creative vision with quality and impact.”
In addition to this, Canon has maintained the No. 1 share worldwide within the interchangeable-lens digital camera market during the 11-year period from 2003 to 2013.
In February 2014, Canon marked another manufacturing milestone as combined production of its film and digital EOS-series interchangeable-lens cameras surpassed the 70-million-unit mark.
