Wireless access point vendor Ruckus, has just announced the extension of its channel reach by appointing Exeed as a NZ distributor. This is in addition to their long standing distribution arrangement with Connector Systems.

Carl Jefferys, Australia/New Zealand country manager, Ruckus added, “Exeed has proven, strong relationships with resellers working within the markets that are growing strongly for us across the world. We are confident that our partnership with exeed will grow Ruckus’ New Zealand business in the hospitality, health and logistics markets.”

“Ruckus makes great products and has a channel friendly business model that simplifies the selling process for partners,” says Justin Tye, managing director at exeed.

The Wi-Fi access point category is white hot at present, driven by the growth of iPads and other inexpensive mobile devices. Globally Ruckus counts over 12,000 customers with over 3 million units shipped. The vendor competes in the space with Cisco, Aruba, Aerohive and other networking vendors.

A significant proportion of their business in the US has been to telco’s who are trying to offload customer’s data from their congested 3G networks.

Locally schools have been a particular success for the vendor, with most sites needing 50-100 access points to cope with the density of students and devices.

Ruckus’s real claim to fame is their antenna technology. They’ve focused most of their development efforts on developing proprietary technologies to form the wireless beam and in turn give customers superior coverage especially in difficult environments.

Appointing a second distributor in New Zealand is an interesting move, considering the New Zealand market under Connector Systems tutorship has been boxing well above our weight according to the vendor. With high unit sales per capita and more individuals completing Ruckus’s Wise Guy technical certification in NZ per capita than anywhere else in the world.
