Synnex replaces Ingram Micro as Acer NZ distie

FYI, this story is more than a year old

Synnex New Zealand has snaffled local distribution for Acer, leaving Ingram Micro out in the cold.

Synnex is replacing Ingram Micro as one of two local distributors, alongside Dove Electronics, in a change taking place from 01 July.

The deal, which covers Acer's full suite of products,  means Synnex will be able to offer resellers access to servers, a new area for the rapidly growing distributor.

Cameron Anderson, Acer country manager, says Synnex is a strong partner for Acer across Asia Pacific and the vendor is 'delighted' to extend the deal to Synnex in New Zealand.

He says Acer clocked up 'significant' triple-digit growth in the past 12 months. “It is important we align ourselves with the most dedicated and effective partners to continue this momentum,” Anderson says.

“We are looking forward to focusing our attention on growing our resellers profitability and are committed to continued growth in the New Zealand market.

“Appointing Synnex to accompany long-term partner Dove Electronics was a logical decision and we believe this new go-to-market strategy will provide us with more focus and opportunities to delight out mutual customers.”

Richard Harri, Synnex New Zealand country manager, says Synnex will provide the full suite of Acer products, including notebooks, desktops, tablets, displays and server products.

“Over the past six months, Synnex New Zealand has made significant investments which have included an almost doubling of the company head count to 55, and additional expansion plans are well underway to facilitate increased demand for the company's products particularly in the commercial sector.”

Harri says while the Acer partnership is Synnex's first foray into servers 'our staff have years and years of server experience'.
