Tough trading sees Panasonic NZ withdraw from retailer group

Panasonic New Zealand has withdrew from the The National Associated Retail Traders of Australia (NARTA NZ), effective from April 1.

The Kiwi division of the company will leave a group that that represents retailers such as Appliance Connexion, The Appliance Shed, JB Hifi, Farmers Group, Smith City Group and Kitchen and Things.

The company says it will now invest extra effort into direct sales relationships with these members.

“Panasonic has enjoyed a constructive relationship with NARTA NZ for many years,” says Stewart Fowler, MD, Panasonic.

“However the trading environment continues to be challenging and we believe this decision allows us to be closer to our customers, focusing on the individual needs of their businesses.

“We have strong relationships with all NARTA NZ members and we look forward to strengthening these relationships even more in the future with personalised direct attention.”
